Lake Highland (Fla.) Prep’s senior football/soccer/lacrosse player Michael Rasmussen has committed to play football at the University of Pennsylvania next year.

Rasmussen, a placekicker and punter for the Highlanders, celebrated his Wednesday decision by going out Thursday and scoring two goals against Class 3A defending state soccer champion Fort Myers Bishop Verot to send the Highlanders into the state title game with a 2-1 victory.

As for football this past season, Rasmussen was 10-of-14 on field goals with a longest of 45 yards in a playoff victory over Fort Myers Dunbar. He also is a dead-eye punter and is known for his placement punts inside the 20-yard line.

Rasmussen is the 12th-ranked punter in the country for the Class of 2011, according to KohlsKicking.com, and he is also ranked No. 14 as a kicker.

He is the sixth Lake Highland player to commit to Penn for football under LHP coach Tim Borcky.
